The clerk is responsible for preparing, maintaining,
managing, and providing access to court files and records as governed by the
Ohio Court Rules. In addition to hard copy files, the Court maintains an
electronic case file database and provides case information to The Supreme Court
of the State of Ohio and The Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles. Case dispositions
are provided to the police departments within the Court's jurisdiction. The
clerks also schedule all case events for the judges and magistrates, provide
event notices to parties/attorneys, and generate and distribute daily court
calendars for the judges and magistrates.
The Clerk's office is divided into a Civil Division and a Criminal/Traffic Division. Each clerk has an obligation to be neutral and impartial regarding any case before the Court. Clerks may provide court users with all of the options that are available, but they must not give recommendations, opinions or legal advice about how a court user should proceed.
