DEBORAH F. COMERY
CLERK OF COURT
Deborah Comery was elected Clerk of Court of the Rocky River Municipal Court on November 6, 2007. Prior to assuming the position of Clerk of Court, Debbie served as Chief Deputy Clerk under then Clerk William E. Gareau from 1996 through 2007.
Clerk Comery has overseen and has been instrumental in the:
Acquisition and implementation of the Court’s state-of-the-art computer software system. She conducted the research and wrote the documentation outlining the needs of the computer system and oversaw the system’s installation and implementation;
Research and acquisition of a collection agency to assist in the payment of fines and costs at no charge to the Court;
Implementation of the computer’s imaging system paving the way for an eventual paperless court;
Development of the Court’s website that provides almost complete online access to all court records with document imaging and data entry available in real time as well as providing an online method for Defendants to pay their fines and costs.
Installation and implementation of the E-Certified Mail System (that is Certified Mail with Electronic Return Receipts via the US Post Office);
Implementation of E-Filing; and
Police Department Interface (the process by which the Court’s Police Departments submit Citations and Complaints via an electronic interface).
Clerk Comery Memberships and Affiliations:
Ohio Supreme Court’s E-Filing Subcommittee of the Commission on Technology and the Courts researching the creation of a statewide E-Filing portal for State courts;
Ohio Courts Network (OCN) Pilot Project
Team through the Ohio Supreme Court that has implemented a law
enforcement/court accessible data base of State of
Cuyahoga County Justice Management Institute Committee and chaired their Judicial Workgroup under their Case Processing Subcommittee for the creation of a streamlined County-wide processing system for felony defendants;
Pitney Bowes, Inc. and United States Postal Service National Pilot Program to create an electronic certified mail system.
Deborah Comery was honored with the Ohio Association of Municipal and County Court Clerks CLERK OF THE YEAR award in May, 2011. She also received the OAMCCC Professional Certification Award in 2011.
Clerk Comery has been an active member of the Ohio Association of Municipal and County Court Clerks serving Secretary in 2009 and then created and chairs the Association’s Electronic Communications Committee. She also co-chairs the Elected Clerks and Association Directory Committees.
Clerk Comery has also been an active member of the North East Ohio Municipal Court Clerks Association serving as their Sergeant-at-Arms in 2008, Secretary in 2009, 2nd Vice President in 2010, 1st Vice President in 2011 and President in 2014.

the Rocky River Municipal Court’s Clerk’s Office one of the most efficient,
technologically advanced courts in the State of
