Cuyahoga County Mental Health Court Initiative

 Initiative Goals 

 1. To identify at the earliest opportunity a mentally disordered offender or mentally retarded offender (MDO/MRO) who becomes involved in the criminal justice systems

2. To obtain social service assistance to divert from or assist MDO/MRO with the justice system

3. To reduce MDO/MRO jail populations

4. To better prepare MDO/MRO inmates for re-entry after jail

5. To address non-jail housing needs

6. To (re)connect with appropriate available social services

7. To share and maximize effectiveness of available resources on a county-wide basis regardless of where within the justice system the MDO/MRO becomes involved

Suburban Municipal Court Section Goals

To maximize efficiency and accomplish Cuyahoga County Mental Health Court Initiative goals in the suburban municipal courts.

Cleveland Municipal Court Specialized Dockets

Rocky River Municipal Court has been involved with the Cleveland Municipal Suburban Court Expansion Project.  This project established a coordinated, multi-system approach designed to link the Greater Cleveland Drug Court, Human Trafficking Docket, Mental Health Docket, Veterans Docket and their services to offenders at the Rocky River Municipal Court.
